Following the family tradition for over 53 years, Richard Specia began his home-building career at an early age. He worked on a carpenter crew building new homes and remodeling existing homes during summers and holidays until he graduated from college. He graduated with a degree in business administration from Texas Tech University in 1968. Richard served two years in the U.S. Army, and was awarded two bronze stars for his service in Vietnam. |

Full time with Specia Builders, Inc. since 1970, Richard Specia is presently the President and CEO. Richard was one of the first 50 Certified Graduate Remodelers, (CGR's) designated by the National Association of Home Builders.

Legacy of Craftsmanship Since 1947. The article by Veronica Lozano gives an account of the Specia
home building generations. "Richard Specia, the third generation of Specias has followed in his father's and grandfather's footsteps in the construction industry. Richard started at the age of 13 working as carpenter's helper and learning his trade. Richard's great-grandfather was a
home builder in the King William area in the 1800's. His grandfather and two brothers started Specia Plumbing and Electric in 1905 where his father worked until he started this
home building firm in 1947. |
